Keanu Reeves’ summary of playing Cyberpunk 2077 and the subsequent reaction from a fan (at 2:14 in the linked video) perfectly describes the energy of 2019’s Electronic Entertainment Expo: “breathtaking.”

Since 1995, gaming industry professionals have gathered annually at E3 in Los Angeles, CA to showcase their latest and upcoming work. However, it wasn’t until 2017 that E3’s doors became open to the public for the first time.

Following Microsoft’s presentation on Sunday featuring Keanu Reeves, big developers Bethesda, Ubisoft, Square Enix, and Nintendo have all also had exciting news to share. Here are some highlights so far.

The internet has gone wild for Ikumi Nakamura’s presentation about the Bethesda project Ghostwire Tokyo, whose energy brought a welcomed change from the usual teleprompted presentations from men in blazers.

Jon Bernthal, of Netflix’s Punisher and AMC’s Walking Dead, similarly captured attention presenting Ghost Recon: Breakpoint for Ubisoft when he brought his Blue Pitbull, Bam Bam, with him on stage.

Arguably one of Square Enix’s biggest reveals this year was the first trailer of a long anticipated Avengers game, which will be compensating for the lack of an Avengers movie coming out next May.

A big surprise for Nintendo fans came June 11 with the first look at a follow-up to 2017’s The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. The spooky and cryptic trailer doesn’t even title the project, only providing a few dark visuals, a creepy reversed-voice soundtrack and a promise the game is in development.

The Expo concludes Thursday, June 13, but fans and industry professionals will be discussing the new information for the rest of the year. Die-hard fans interested in attending E3 in 2020 should probably start saving now. As of Sunday, June 9, attendee passes were available at the doors of the Los Angeles Convention Center for $995.00.
