Florida Governor Rick Scott requested detailed information concerning curriculum, professors’ pay and graduates’ pay from the 11 public state universities in Florida.
In a three-page letter sent on October 13th, Scott specifically explains what information he is requesting. He says he wants all of the information by November 15th.
“Gov. Scott sent out the letter to start a conversation in Florida about how universities could improve performance. That is always a healthy conversation. As a result, a work group has been established by the Board of Governors to make recommendations for improving the State University System. While we don’t know exactly what the final result will be, it will likely include a focus on ways to encourage more students to enter into STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) degree programs and ways to better assist them with career goals after graduation,” said Joanna Norris, UNF Associate Director for Public Relations in an email.
