Freshman guard Garrett Sams announced on Twitter he will be leaving UNF to play for the University of Tennessee Martin next season.

Sams thanked head coach Matthew Driscoll and staff for being a part of his Osprey experience. With the transfer, he will be closer to his hometown while playing basketball.
“First class people on and off the court along with one of the best fan bases,” Sams wrote about his experience at UNF.
Sams started his first season as an Osprey off the bench before being promoted to a starter over several veteran teammates.
The Tennessee native played in 33 games, missing one due to an upper body injury. Sams had 19 double-figure gamea with a career-high 23 points against Thomas University on Dec.15.
Sams earned a spot on the ASUN all-freshmen team with teammate Wajid Aminu at the end of the season.
The 6 foot 6 guard had an average of 10.4 points a game, spent 24.9 minutes on the court per game and shot 42.2 percent from three per game.
