UNF men’s tennis spilt match results with a 4-0 victory over No. 75 UNC Wilmington and a 4-2 loss against No. 63 Alabama in singles play on a rain-delayed home opener Jan. 22 at the UNF Tennis Courts.

After the morning match was delayed, the Ospreys (1-3) picked up play in the afternoon to knock off UNC Wilmington. The first points of the match came from junior Yannick Zuern from the No.2 spot. His teammates sophomore Lasse Muscheites, junior  Zach Goldberg, and junior Jack Findel-Hawkins added their points to seal the shutout.

To end the day, UNF faced No.63 Alabama in singles play for a 4-2 loss.

Findel-Hawkins defeated a ranked opponent, No. 106 Korey Lovett, for the first point before Alabama answered back with a point of their own. UNF fought back behind freshman Jonathan Deautriell’s victory at the No. 5 spot, but Alabama claimed the remaining points for the victory.

All four of the Ospreys opponents this season were ranked, including No. 11 Wake Forest.

According to the Osprey men’s tennis twitter account, their match against Miami on Jan. 23 was cancelled due to chilly weather and windy conditions. The Ospreys next event will be against Cornell in Ithaca, New York on Jan. 28.
