Ospreys start the new year off right with dominant win

The men’s basketball team started the New Year off right with six Ospreys scoring in double figures during their 102-67 win over Palm Beach Atlantic on Jan. 2. With this win, UNF snapped their three-game losing streak.

Dallas Moore scored a game-high 23 points and assisted five buckets during the game. With Moore’s performance,he became the first UNF basketball player ever to reach and exceed the 2,000 career points marker. Moore has now scored 2,008 points during his Osprey career.

Freshman phenom Wajid Aminu earned his fourth double-double of the season with 11 points and grabbed a game-high 13 rebounds.

Garrett Sams, a standout freshman guard, netted 18 points and snatched six rebounds.

North Florida lead in almost every stat including fast break points, points off turnovers and second chance points. The Ospreys were shooting about 54 percent from the field, while the Sailfish only shot about 35 percent from the field.

Karlos Odum scored 11 points and Aaron Bodager and Aaron Horne both chipped in 10 points each to the Ospreys’ total.

North Florida lead for most of the game and coasted to an easy win over PBA with a score of 102-67.

Next, North Florida will face Jacksonville University, opening conference play during the River City Rumble. The game is on Jan. 7 and starts at 7 p.m. in the Swisher Gym.
