UNF sent out an Osprey Update Thursday morning notifying students and faculty about the group “Church of God the Mother”.

The update was sent out after multiple students stated their concerns on social media about the group, believing the group is a human trafficking ploy disguised as a religion that targets vulnerable young women looking for safe refuge.

The update concluded the organization is entitled to freedom of religion and speech and UNFPD are aware of the group’s presence.

A similar alert was sent out last year regarding the same group. In last year’s update, UNFPD stated that they can find no evidence that ‘God the Mother’ is involved with human trafficking.
