Eliminating food waste for the win (and for the tablet)

Darvin Nelson, General Assignment Reporter

Dining Services is hosting a Project Clean Plate event where students are encouraged to present their clean plates to Dining Services after they are finished with their meal in order to be entered into a raffle for a chance to win prizes.

It is a week-long food waste awareness event from September 30 to October 4 in the Osprey Café and demonstrates how students can make a difference within their own eating space.

UNF Dining Services will donate $250 to the Lend-a-Wing Pantry if a 10% reduction of food waste was achieved or a $500 donation if a 15% reduction in food waste was achieved by the end of the week.

Students can participate for a chance to win a variety of prizes from cups to a tablet. This initiative gives students an opportunity to become more mindful of how much they eat compared to how much they fill their plates, and it promotes landfill diversion.
