Porchfest is in full swing

Darvin Nelson, General assignment reporter

Jacksonville Porchfest is a free event with an expected 50 vendors, including a variety of food trucks and local artists selling art. 18 music groups will also perform live.

The festival is this Saturday, Nov. 9 from 12-9 p.m., at the corner of West Third and Silver Streets.

Presented by SPAR (Springfield Preservation and Revitalization), the festival takes over the porches and parks in Historic Springfield near the downtown area. The live music will be performed by local bands such as Jags Drumline, Lets Ride Brass Band, the Honey Hounds and various other groups. Following the festival, there will be a concert in Klutho Park.

The festival can be fun for your furry kanines too. Dogs can enjoy treats, a dog photobooth and even a dog comfort station provided by Kanine Social. Just make sure they’re on a leash.

Proceeds of the PorchFest go towards arts related activities in Jacksonville’s urban core.
