Holding the GOP debate on campus means that many recognizable faces will find their way onto the Green and the Fine Arts Center. Primarily, the faces that come to mind belong to the bodies of the four remaining hopefuls, Newt Gingrich, Ron Paul, Mitt Romney and Rick Santorum.
But UNF regulars may spot CNN anchor Wolf Blitzer, who will moderate Jan. 26’s event inside the Lazarra Performance Hall, as well.
Blitzer makes his way to television screens across the country six nights a week for “The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer,” a show that focuses on politics, breaking news and breaking news related to politics.
As a 20-plus year CNN veteran, he’s spent most of many of UNF students’ lives on the Atlanta-based 24/7 news station.
If anything noteworthy happens at the UNF debate, “Saturday Night Live” viewers can expect actor Jason Sudeikis to parody Blitzer, as he’s done in the past.
Blitzer, who turns 64 in March, said in a blog post on CNN.com that the upcoming event will be his third time moderating a Republican debate this election cycle.
