A student called the Communications Department around 11:47 p.m. on March 25 and reported a man was taped to a chair with a pillow case over his head in the middle of the Osprey Landing court yard, according to the UNFPD.
UNFPD dispatched an officer, who arrived approximately three minutes after the call was made. However, the officer did not observe anything fitting the complaint. After surveying the area, the officer found a volleyball sized wad of duct tape and a note written on graph paper that said “$50,000 or we pull the trigger!” inside the elevator.
The responding officer received a written statement from the witness, stating that she had seen an unknown male with a pillowcase over his head in the courtyard. She stated that his hands and feet had been taped to the chair. As she walked by, the witness said that she saw another male in a blue shirt running away and laughing.
The officer canvassed the area with negative results.
UNFPD’s information report does not say whether there would be further investigation.
