On April 1 The University of North Florida baseball team was unable to recover from two errors and lost to the University of Central Florida 8-4 at Harmon Stadium. The University of Central Florida won their ninth game in a row, gaining an 18-12 record for the season.
UNF, now with a 14-15 record for the season, trailed UCF the entire game. Not only did the Knights fight back after every scoring inning the Ospreys gained, they had scored the game’s first three runs. Later, UCF took advantage of a UNF throwing error and had two unearned runs in the top of the seventh.
However, the Osprey players had impressive moments. Drew Weeks and Alex Bacon both scored home runs and Kyle Brooks had three hits for the fourth time this season. Brooks also drove in his eighth run of the season and Trent Higginbothem had a solid two-hit game.
The Ospreys will return to Harmon Stadium for the River City Rumble against Jacksonville University this weekend. The three-game series begins April 5 at 6:00 p.m.
