The 2015-2016 season came to an end for the North Florida women’s golf team after they finished 14^th in the Baton Rouge Regional at LSU’s University Club Saturday.

It was the first time women’s golf has qualified for the NCAA Regional in its four years of existence, and the team finished the 54-hole weekend with a tournament total of 925.

Senior Mary Dawson’s three-round total of 224 was the best on the team and tied her for 35^th individually. Dawson’s best round came on the last day of the event, when she shot a 1-over 73.

Senior Emelie Alpe finished three strokes behind Dawson, but still finished within the top 50 with a three-round score of 227. Alpe shot a 70 on the second day of the tournament, which was the lowest score of any Osprey.

Junior Megan Wilshire carded a three-round score of 238 to finish tied for 80^th, and Nathalie Nygren scored a 241 to place her at 85^th.

The University of Florida and the University of South Carolina tied for first place with a 7-under 857. South Carolina’s Katelyn Dambaugh was the top individual performer with a 9-under 207.

The regional finish ends the Osprey’s season, but not before they could make history. The ladies won the first Atlantic Sun Championship in the program’s history and made it to the NCAA Regional Tournament for the first time.

The top six finishers: Florida, South Carolina, Washington, Duke, Oregon and Brigham Young, will advance to the NCAA Championships in Eugene, Ore.
