Former UNF tennis player Quetzali Vasquez has been named the new women’s tennis assistant coach.

“We are fortunate to have [Quetzali Vasquez] join our staff as a coach,” said Mariana Cobra, head coach of the women’s tennis team. “She accomplished amazing things as a player at UNF and her leadership will continue to contribute to the UNF program.”

During Vazquez’s time as an Osprey she was selected to the ASUN All-Conference team three times and earned ASUN All-Tournament honors. She also made appearances in the NCAA tournament and won three straight ASUN Championship Titles.

During her 2016 season, Vazquez garnered first-team honors as she went undefeated in ASUN singles matches.

“I am excited and happy about this opportunity to coach the team that I have played for the past four years. I have had a great career and a good time at UNF and that is the reason I want to continue my career here,” said Vazquez.

Vazquez  has a bachelor’s in sport management, and is pursuing her master’s in sports administration.

“Someone with her character is a great example for our returning and incoming athletes, and we look forward to having her on staff,” said Cobra.
