“InterSEXionality” Sex Week 2018

Monday, March 5 through Friday, March 9 marks UNF Sex Week 2018, sponsored by the LGBT Resource Center to promote sex education and healthy sexual behavior across campus.
This year’s theme is “InterSEXionality,” with the goal of “promoting existing campus-wide diversity and inclusion initiatives as they relate to the mission of Sex Week.”
Programs will be focused on topics such as sexually transmitted diseases, consent, and sexual orientation.
On Monday, March 5, there will be a number of events occurring in the Student Union Ballrooms. From 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. there will be a panel called More Than Just Sports: Title IX and Sexual Safety on Campus, and from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m., there will be a symposium on Sex Week Research and Resources. A panel on Online Dating, Safety, and Consent will occur from 4:00 to 5:30 p.m.
From 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 6, there will be a Safe Space/Brave Space training in the Student Union Auditorium. This open to all students, staff, and faculty. Participants in this workshop will have the opportunity to learn about LGBTQIA+ terminology and identities, discuss society’s impact on LGBTQIA+ individuals, and have a dialogue on strategies to reduce homophobia and heterosexism on campus.
A panel discussion on Men and Masculinities will occur from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, in Student Union Ballroom D.
On Thursday, March 8, there will be an event called Taking Up Space: How Bodies Shape our Sexuality in the Student Union Meeting Room 3804 between 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., and then Queer Prom will take place between 7:00 p.m. and 11:00 p.m. in the Student Union Ballrooms.
A panel discussion on religion and sexuality will take place on Friday, March 9, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and between 6:30 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. there will be an event called The Science of Sex Education. Both will take place in the Student Union Ballroom.
Rapid HIV testing will take place every day of the week from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. On Monday and Thursday it will be in the Student Union Ballroom, and on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday, it will be in the LGBT Resource Center Conference Room.
