Student Union will be named after UNF President John Delaney

The Board of Trustees decided April 5 to rename the Student Union after John Delaney. It will now be named the John A. Delaney Student Union.

The naming was saved as a surprise for Delaney until the special “Celebrate UNF” dinner that was hosted later that night honoring him and his effect on campus. Several students and faculty spoke of Delaney in high regards and Florida Senator Aaron Bean spoke on his relationship with UNF and Delaney.

He remarked afterward that the Student Union was his favorite building.

During the dinner, they also revealed the Presidential Portrait of Delaney.

The renaming of the Student Union will be in effect June 1.
