The University of North Florida has been recognized by Affordable Colleges Online and the SR Education Group as a leader in LBGTQ inclusion and affordability for the 2018-2019 academic year.

According to the University, Affordable Colleges Online is a leading authority in higher education information, resources, affordability and rankings. Affordable Colleges Online reportedly considers several factors for their LGBTQ-friendly list, such as accreditation, a staffed LGBTQ support center, scholarship resources, gender-inclusive housing, and LGBTQ events, organizations, and clubs.

“We wanted to highlight the schools that are dedicated to creating a safe and welcoming environment for everyone,” Affordable Colleges Online CEO Dan Schuessler said. “These schools are leading the charge in helping LGBTQ students find an inclusive campus that will support their personal and academic needs.”

UNF ranked fifth for affordability and number of online degree options by SR Education. The Campus Pride Index, which rates schools on a five-star scale, awarded UNF four or more stars for LGBTQ-friendly factors.

“Being recognized for our excellence as an LGBTQ-friendly school highlights UNF’s commitment to positioning students for life-long success,” Director Kaitlin Legg of the UNF LGBT Resource Center said. “Affirming and including our LGBTQ community is one of the ways that UNF promotes the welfare and positive transformation of individuals, communities and societies.”
