Two of UNF’s pitchers last season, Frank German and Austin Drury, were drafted in the 2018 MLB Draft back in early June. Frank German was drafted in the fourth round by the New York Yankees and Austin Drury was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in the thirty-fourth round.

Both players started in the Rookie league on June 15, only 10 days after the draft.  Frank German played in the Gulf Coast League with the GCL Yankees West team. He only played one game with the team on June 23rd where he started and played two innings and struck out three batters. German was then promoted to the Yankees Short Season Single A team: the Staten Island Yankees.  He has since pitched four games for them with a total of 10 innings pitched with 15 strikeouts. German currently owns a 1.46 earned run average.

Austin Drury, on the other hand, started his career with the Ogden Raptors of the Pioneer League. Drury appeared in his first game on July 2 and has played a total of six games with the ball club. He has pitched a total of nine innings with nine strikeouts and earned his first win on July 13 after pitching two and a third innings, allowing one hit and striking out two. Both pitchers are starting the season off strong and could be promoted throughout this season.
