Matzko deals in 6-1 win over Rattlers

Fueled by Redshirt-Senior Sydney Matzko’s six innings of one-run ball, the Ospreys outhit FAMU in a 6-1 win.

Freshman Paige Pfent capitalized on one of the Rattlers miscues in the bottom of the second by crossing home plate on a wild pitch for a 1-0 UNF lead.

The Rattlers came back in the top of the third on an RBI single to center to tie it up at one.

It was a hit parade in the fourth for UNF as they scored three on a two RBI triple from Senior Tiffany Lower and RBI singles from Sophomore Makenzie Griffin and Senior Dominica Cocuzza to push the lead to 5-1, UNF.

The Ospreys padded the lead to 6-1 with an RBI single to right from Senior Megan Woodson which cemented the win.

Matzko finished with six innings of one-run ball and punched out five while earning her eleventh win of the season.

Pfent went 3-3 with a run scored and Lower led the team with two RBI’s on the night.

The win improves UNF to 22-14 (4-5 ASUN) and the loss drops FAMU to 15-23.
