10 unique date ideas for lovebirds in Jax
August 12, 2019
Are you and your Tinder date looking for somewhere to go? Are you tired of the cliche idea of going to the movies? Look no further. Here some date ideas that will for sure impress your date:
1.Take your date to Five Points in Riverside
Whether it’s going to the rooftop bar, playing games at the arcade located in the Rec room or even visiting the many thrift shops located in Five Points, this place has so much to offer to Jacksonville residents and tourists. Be sure to walk across the street and into Memorial park for a picnic, complete with a natural juice from the nearby natural market and a beautiful sunset.
2. Have an educational experience
There’s plenty to do near Hemming Park. Visit the MOCA museum, which is free to current UNF students so be sure to bring along your UNF ID. If that doesn’t leave you or your date satisfied, walk down to Chamblin’s Bookmine and explore the rows and rows of books or walk across the street to Sweet Petes for a sweet treat guaranteed to transport you into a world of whimsiness.
3. Escape game double date
There are plenty of escape rooms to visit around Jacksonville. Of course, it’s hard to escape with just two people (not that I’m sure if that’s even allowed), so invite another couple for an adventurous and playful date.
4. Bike on the beach/ visit beach bars
If you’re a Jacksonville native, then you know that taking your date to the beach is a safe way to ensure they have a good time. Whether it’s biking, walking or laying on the beach, you’re guaranteed plenty of conversation. If you’re old enough, stop at bars like the Lemon Bar or Salt for amazing food or drinks.
5. Go on a scavenger hunt
You can scavenger hunt in Jacksonville? The answer is yes. You can do this through Operation City Quest, which is a scavenger hunt using your smartphone. You’ll have to search around the downtown area, perform challenges, and answer trivia questions to find 140 objects. This is a great way to know how your partner is under pressure. Teamwork makes the dreamwork.

6. Kayak at UNF or try the zip line
This might sound like something out of The Notebook, but UNF’s Eco-Adventures is a great way for lovebirds to get outdoors and into nature. This is free for UNF students but make sure you pick this one on a sunny day.
7. Visit St. Augustine at sunset/ take a tour of Flagler college
St. Augustine is located not far from Jacksonville. Have a picnic on the grass near the Castillo De San Marco, go to Ripley’s Believe It Or Not, take a tour of the Old Jail or even walk through the Puebla. If you’re walking through the Puebla, look for a secret garden located behind a jewelry store, which at nighttime is complete with beautiful lights. If you can’t find that one, try the one located behind the Old Schoolhouse.
Flagler college is definitely a sight to see and good for you history junkies. Take a Flagler college tour and transport both you and your date to a place some say looks oddly similar to the world of Harry Potter.
8. Go blueberry picking
Here’s another one if you and your date like the outdoors. Try the Braddock Blueberry Farm where you and your date can gather and eat delicious blueberries. Make sure your date likes them.
9. Visit the Outhouse (Florida’s smallest bar) and the Artisan Village of Amelia
The Outhouse bar located in Fernandina is Florida’s smallest bar. The bar, which has capacity of only three people (including the bartender), only serves drinks on special occasions but is available for anyone to go visit. The bar is adorned with LED lights and disco lights for a unique feel.
10. Visit Public School No.4 or Annie Lytle Elementary School
This one is completely at your own risk. Trespassing isn’t recommended, but maybe just stop by for pictures of a spook or two. Public School No. 4, also known as the “Devil’s School,” was built in the 1950’s and has been abandoned since the late 60’s and early 70’s. The place is said to be one of the most haunted spots in the area. This is good if you want to take your date on something a little different.
