At 5:35 p.m., UNF sent out an Osprey Alert stating that classes and activities will be cancelled from Saturday, August 31 through Tuesday, Sept. 3 due to Hurricane Dorian.

Dorian is currently expected to be a Category 4 hurricane when it first makes landfall on the coast of Florida and diminish to a Category 1 as it travels up through Central Florida. All 67 counties are under a state of emergency issued by Governor Ron DeSantis. University of North Florida joins the list of other colleges and universities closing in preparation for the storm.
