Rejoice! Popeyes chicken sandwich is back!

Courtney Green, News Editor

Remember back in August when that magical sandwich came out at Popeyes and was subsequently consumed in its mass produced entirety two weeks later?

Well, it’s back!

The menu item is slated to return November 3 and stay on as a permanent menu item for the foreseeable future. This time, Popeyes does not anticipate running out, according to a statement made to CNN Business by Popeyes head of marketing.

For those of you who might have missed it, Popeyes launched a spicy chicken sandwich back on August 12. The sandwich was wildly successful. The problem? The sandwich was a little too successful. Popeyes projected selling out in September; instead, they sold out two weeks after launching. Celebrities and regular folk alike had a hard time finding a Popeyes with the sandwich in stock. Gayle King was among those hunting for the mythical sandwich, even going so far as to stop by 15 locations in search of its spicy glory.

The sandwich found its fame when an explosive internet spat between fast-food giants Chick-fil-A, Wendy’s, and Popeyes erupted over who had the better sandwich, which then prompted people to go out and try them all.

The re-launch date for Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich is a Sunday, perhaps meant to spark more social media hype. Here’s to hoping they don’t sell out in two weeks again.
