Sitting down with UNF’s newest team: Meet the new provosts

Heydi Ortiz, Managing Editor

The Szymanski administration has recently welcomed a new team.

New Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, Simon Rhodes and Assoc. Provost, Daniel C. Moon–who has been involved in the progress of the University of North Florida through teaching for quite sometime– will now be working as a team in hopes of advancing academic affairs.

“I’ve been here for three months and I’m really proud to be here at UNF,” Rhodes said.  I’ve really been enjoying listening and learning and seeing how things work at UNF.”

Rhodes replaced Dr. Pam Chally and officially began his position as provost on June 30. Since then, he has worked closely with the president and the Board of Trustees to further the university’s future.

Moon, on the other hand, has been at UNF for over 15 years and says he’s happy with the direction the university is going in.

“I’ll tell you I’ve never been more excited than I am now and it started with president Szymanski coming on board with his new focus on student success and excellence for the entire campus,” said Moon. “What I really love about my job is how exciting it is and how different every single day can be. But again, the theme is always the same. We’re all coming together and working really hard to support students.”
