UNF student Tess Rochelle Huber, 20, was killed in a plane crash Dec. 8, according to an Osprey Update email sent to all student emails.
The crash happened near Atlantic Blvd. around 6:20 p.m. according to a report by The Florida Times Union.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office reported the crash solely killed Tess Huber, her father Michael, and her sister Abigail, 17. The pilot could not see the runway and turned the plane around. The plane then lost altitude.
Huber, a sports management sophomore, was on the women’s golf team at UNF. She was named Atlantic Sun’s Golf Player of the Week two months ago.
The university is offering free grief counseling to students, faculty and staff at the UNF Counseling Center.
Monday’s fundraiser was held at Deerwood Country Club where players, coaches and some staff members played in honor of Huber, her father Michael, and little sister Abigail.
