The Interfaith Center invites you to “find yourself”

The Interfaith Center is hosting their annual Interfaith Week next week, which is full of fun events and activities to learn about the various cultures and religions found on campus. The theme of the weeklong event is “Finding Yourself.”

Monday, February 5

Interfaith Week Kickoff

When: 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Where: On the Green

The Interfaith Center staff will be there to answer all questions students and staff may have about Interfaith Week and the events that will be going on. Doughnuts will also be given out.

Mulan Sing-Along

When:  7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Where: Student Union Auditorium, Bldg. 58W, Room 2704

Come watch the Disney classic, Mulan, and sing along to your favorite songs while pondering on this question: “Who am I?”

Tuesday, Feb. 6

Speedfaithing

When: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Student Union Ballroom, Bldg. 58W, Room 3703  

A new version of speed dating but instead you get the opportunity to hear about someone’s culture and how they came to understand it. During the event, snacks will be provided for all participants.

Community Supper with One Jax

When: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Student Union Ballroom, Bldg. 58W, Room 3703  

This discussion-based event will take groups of eight to ten people and lead them to talk about religious traditions, ethnic groups, sexual orientations, and gender identities. Community leaders will head groups. Dinner is provided in this event.

Thursday, Feb. 8

Storytelling Workshop

When: 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Where: Student Union Ballroom, Bldg. 58W, Room 3703

Everyone has a story about how they came to their faith. This event allows students to practice writing their story about how they found themselves.

Spiritual Practices Fair

When: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Where: Student Union Ballroom, Bldg. 58W, Room 3703  

Explore the various ways you can pray, reflect and meditate by talking to the different Interfaith affiliated chaplains on campus. Snacks will be provided.

I-Dinner

When: 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Where: Student Union Ballrooms, Bldg. 58W, Room 3703

Friends from various cultures get together to eat dinner, meet new people, play games, do crafts, and learn about other cultures. There will be a free meal to those who attend and participate.

Friday, Feb. 9

Interfaith Week Friday Lounge

When: 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Where: Women’s Center, Bldg. 2, Room 2100

Students come discuss what they thought of the events throughout the week and talk about what they found out, not only about other students but also about themselves. There will be games and activities.
