Voices are rising within the Jacksonville community in a chorus of cries for justice. Within the last year, three transgender women in Duval County were murdered, and a fourth was shot but survived.

In response to the recent violence taken against the transgender community, activists are organizing rallies in order to promote action and create a system of public support.

The first rally will be held at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 26 at City Hall. The event is titled “Take Action! Demand Justice at City Hall” and will be hosted by the Jacksonville Transgender Action Committee.

The second rally, A Trans Lives Matters rally, will be hosted by the Jacksonville Transgender Action Committee and T.A.P. Transgender Awareness Project. The rally will take place outside of the Duval County Courthouse at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 27.
