UNF teams up with the Florida-Times Union to create documentaries about Jacksonville
October 22, 2018
Not every student on campus can tell you what’s new about Jax, but the Department of Communication’s journalism and production students can.
On Monday, Oct. 22 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the John A. Delaney Student Union, these students’ short documentaries about lesser-known historic Jacksonville residents, titled “Uncovering Jax,” will premiere. Some of the residents they cover include Joseph E. Blodgett, Richard E. Norman, Anna Kingsley and A. Philip Randolph. The documentaries will also tell the story of the gentrification of the Old Brooklyn neighborhood of Jacksonville.
After the documentaries are shown, there will be a panel discussion moderated by Frank Goodin, an instructor in media production here at UNF.
Here’s a trailer for the documentaries. More information about the people and places mentioned in the documentaries can be found on the Uncovering Jax website.
Students and other interested individuals can RSVP here.
These documentaries were made possible with the help of the Florida-Times Union.
