Rick Scott claimed victory late Tuesday night, however, Senator Bill Nelson did not formally concede. He is expected to give a statement later on Wednesday.

According to the Tampa Bay Times, Scott has spent over $150 million on his three campaigns, which is more than any Florida politician in history.

Since 2011, Scott has served Florida as the Republican Governor and has maintained a long career in health insurance. Now, as part of Florida’s Senate, Scott’s new responsibilities include nominating and appointing senior judges, resolving conflicts of interest, and creating measures to prevent discrimination.
