Men’s Basketball Preview: North Florida rematches JU

The Ospreys (13-17 Overall, 7-6 ASUN) will take a short trip across town to battle the Jacksonville Dolphins (13-17 Overall, 7-6 ASUN), in their final regular season match-up tonight.

North Florida heads into Thursday night’s game with momentum following a comfortable 86-75 victory over NJIT.  Sophomore guard Ivan Gandia-Rosa poured on 23 points in their win. Gandia-Rosa also leads the Ospreys in scoring, averaging 14.1 points per game.

Jacksonville will remain at home following their 82-70 victory over the University of South Carolina Upstate Spartans. Senior guard Devin Harris led the Dolphins with a double-double performance of 21 points and 11 rebounds during the contest. Jace Hogan currently leads the Dolphins with 16.3 points per game, after Saturday’s contest.

In the previous matchup on Jan.6, The Birds of Trey suffered a bitter loss at home to Jacksonville, 90-86. Forward Trip Day scored 19 points and 4 rebounds in the loss.

North Florida will be seeking to exact revenge and spoil Jacksonville’s home game finale before heading into the ASUN Tournament.  

North Florida is currently in a two-way tie with Jacksonville for third place in the ASUN. Winner will claim sole possession of third place and a home game.

The rematch tips off at 7 p.m. on Feb. 22 at the Historic Swisher Gym.
