Police Beat: Stolen Phone and Missing Sunglasses

A student met with officials at the UNF Police Department on April 4 in order to report a stolen pair of sunglasses.

According to the police report, the student last recalls seeing his sunglasses in Bldg. 12, Room 2111 on April 3.

The student told officials he suspects somebody had stolen the sunglasses from the room at some point between the hours of 5:40 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. on that day.

The report describes the sunglasses as black plastic Maui Jim sunglasses valued at $230.

Patrol efforts have been suspended due to lack of suspect information.

New Phone, Who Dis

UNFPD was dispatched to the Thomas G. Carpenter Library on April 4 in response to a report of a stolen cell phone.

The complainant stated that she had been working on the second floor of the library when she got up and left her belongings for approximately 20 minutes. When she returned, her cell phone was reportedly gone.

The police report states that the cell phone was later turned in to the library lost and found. A library staff member reportedly advised officials that an unknown, short Asian male with short black hair had been the one to turn the cell phone in.

According to the report, the cell phone was later given back to the complainant, at which point she discovered the SD card to be missing, rendering the phone inoperable.

The complainant reportedly did not know what information was on the SD card.

Patrol efforts have been suspended due to lack of suspect information.
