Two points is what kept the Ospreys (1-7 Overall) from grabbing a win over the New Mexico Lobos (4-3 Overall). It was a test of endurance for both teams as they battled over the course of five sets to determine the victor.

In the opening set, both teams struggled to get a clear edge over one another. It was a close score all the way until the end. New Mexico pulled away and  took the first set, 25-20.

In the second set, the Ospreys bounced back and evened the score with a 25-2 victory. In the following set, North Florida came back from a 12-8 deficit to clinch the lead and go up in sets, 2-1. In the fourth set, the Ospreys were clinging onto a narrow lead throughout the set but couldn’t fend off the scrappy Lobos. This led the game to come down to one final set.

The final set, the Ospreys and the Lobos went at it one last time, winner takes all. The tides of moment swung back and forth in a thrilling game of cat and mouse. In the end, North Florida came up short to New Mexico and took the final set.

Some standout players for the Ospreys were Junior, Taryn Griffey, who hammered out 18 kills and Redshirt-Sophomore, Gabby O’Connell, who collected her second straight double-double (15 kills and 14 digs). Senior, Madilyn McCarty, racked up 50 assists throughout the sets.

North Florida will remain at home to take on USC Upstate at 1 p.m. at the UNF Arena.
