Ospreys sweep rattlers in home weekend series

North Florida dominated in a three game sweep against FAMU with an offensive showcase.
Game One
North Florida took the lead early in the first inning when Redshirt-Senior Wes Weeks scored on a groundout for an early 1-0 lead.
In the third inning, Senior Chris Berry knocked the ball deep over the wall to put the Ospreys up, 2-0.
The fourth inning consisted of two more runs from the Ospreys after Junior David Maberry crossed home plate when Berry grounded out to second base and Sophomore Abraham Sequera scored from an RBI single to right field and stretched their lead to 4-0.
Florida A&M quickly answered when Junior Bret Maxwell lined the ball out to right field, advancing Junior Kaycee Reese to home plate and cut the Ospreys lead to 4-1.
Late in the fifth inning, Sequera singled through the right side, plating Senior Alex Reynolds and extended their lead to 5-1.
The Ospreys cracked late again in the fifth inning when Junior Blake Marabell drove the ball deep for a three-run home run and put them up, 8-1.
In the eighth inning, Weeks was able to score again after an RBI single through right center and cemented the 9-1 win.
Game Two
Early in the first inning, Berry hit a tape measure home run to right field and put the Ospreys up, 1-0.
In the third inning, Junior Austin Hurwitz singled to center which drove in a run and extended the lead to 2-0. Weeks flew out to left, scoring another runner for a 3-0 lead.
Late in the sixth inning, Senior Alex Hendricks scored on a wild pitch for the final run of the game as the Ospreys won, 4-0.
Game Three
Chris Berry, Junior Tanner Murphy and Senior Jay Prather all pitched in as the Ospreys scored three runs in the first inning.
Marabell doubled to right to score two runners and pushed the lead to 6-0, UNF.
Florida A&M scored their first run in the top of the fourth when Reese singled up the middle to score a runner and cut the lead to 6-1, UNF.
The Ospreys answered immediately in the fifth inning when Berry and Marabell scored again after an RBI single to left from Murphy. Hurwitz then hit a ground out to first base, scoring Prather and stretch their lead to 10-2.
Florida A&M put one more run on the scoreboard in the sixth but it wasn’t enough to close the gap as the Ospreys won, 10-2.
Worth Noting
Senior Brad Depperman broke the UNF Division I record in career strikeouts with 210.
Prather continues to lead the ASUN in batting average with .374
Weeks is third in the ASUN in stolen bases (14).
UNF’s record now stands at 26-17 (8-6 ASUN) and are third in the conference.
