Oliveira secured the only goal of the night, in the 8th minute, when she pushed past the Lions defenders and scored on an assist by Leah Ferlin.

“The coach always tell us to go for the ball on a rebound,” Oliveira said. “I saw that the keeper made a poor save and fortunately, I was there to put the ball back in the net.”

Throughout the match, the Ospreys defense stayed on top of the Lions attackers and only allowed two shots on goal.

UNF Women’s Soccer Head Coach Eric Faulconer was very pleased with the way his defense performed tonight.

“They were solid,” Faulconer said. “North Alabama has one of the best forwards in the country and one of the leading goal-scorers in the ASUN and they (UNF) were able to hold her to zero goals.”

This win brings the Osprey’s overall record to 9-3-2 and their ASUN record to 3-0-1. The loss drops the Lions to 4-9 (0-4 ASUN).

The Ospreys are back home at Hodges Stadium on Sunday, October 13 as they face Lipscomb University at 1:00 p.m.
