UNF Enactus to collect, recycle used electronics

Ted R. Allaire Memorial Scholarship awarded to UNF student

The UNF Coggin College of Business established a scholarship this year for past beneficiaries of an organization that fulfills the dreams of children who have long-term illnesses. The recipient of the Ted R. Allaire Memorial Scholarship must first be a part of the organization, Dreams Come True of Jacksonville Inc., and be seeking a major in business at UNF. The scholarship gives past recipients of the Dreams Come True of Jacksonville Inc. $1,100 toward their schooling at the university.

Shuttles to don UNF branding

The new UNF shuttles are being branded after being blank for nearly two months. Melinda Gallup, UNF contract administrator for its shuttle system, said the process of applying branding started over the weekend and will be spread over the next two to three weeks. Each shuttle takes approximately three hours to brand.

No Lot 14 shuttle stop zeroes out CDRC field trips

In previous years, the UNF Child Development Research Center used the Lot 14 shuttle lots for extra programming. But when the shuttle system changed at the beginning of fall, that stop disappeared and so did the field trips the center provided to on-campus events.

Building 57 dedicated to Betty, Tom Petway

Building 57, which sits adjacent to Student Union, has been known as the College of Education and Human Service, but as of Nov. 9, has another name. Petway Hall was dedicated to Betty and Tom Petway, a couple that has been involved in UNF’s growth since it was founded in 1969, according to a news release.

Cell phone repair business opens in Alumni Square

A new store opened Nov. 5 in the old Chartwells location between Sbarro and the UPS Store. Run by Carla Aldridge and her husband Ruben, CPR Cell Phone Repair opened its second Jacksonville location. CPR Phone Repair sells refurbished phones, buys phones and fixes phones, laptops, tablets, game systems and sound systems.
