Ospreys lose to Bisons in four

North Florida’s Volleyball team (9-20 Overall, 4-9 ASUN) fell to the Lipscomb Bisons (15-9 Overall, 10-2 ASUN) at home in four sets.

In the opening set, North Florida pushed out to a four point lead before Lipscomb came back to take the match point. The Bisons stifled the Ospreys offense with six blocks and 16 digs to take the first set, 25-21.

In the second set, North Florida bounced back to take the second set following and offensive eruption by Junior Taryn Griffey, who led the attack with 7 kills. Five Ospreys all chipped in with kills of their own. UNF also held the Bisons to a .031 hitting percentage to take the second set and tie the game.

Lipscomb took control of the third set despite a strong response from the Ospreys. The Bisons posted a .290 hitting percentage and capitalized on North Florida’s attack errors to win, 25-18.

In the fourth set, North Florida traded points with Lipscomb until the very end. Lipscomb’s 20 kills overwhelmed North Florida.Lipscomb was able to take the fourth set and win a final score of 3-1.

Griffey led the Ospreys with 18 kills and 3 blocks. Senior Madilyn McCarty ended the night with 40 assists, Madison Donnelly had 18 digs and O’Connell added 13 kills and 7 digs.

Head Coach Kristen Wright talked to Spinnaker about the  team’s performance.

“We played hard. We came out very flat but I was proud of them” Wright said.

With the regular season winding down, the Ospreys go on the road to Deland to take on Stetson on Oct.30 at 6:00 pm.
