Aggies practice at Hodges Stadium for upcoming TaxSlayer Gator Bowl

Football has finally come to UNF, as host to Coach Jimbo Fisher and the Texas A&M Aggies.

Fisher and his team were having a closed practice at Hodges Stadium on Wednesday, Dec. 26 in preparation for the upcoming TaxSlayer Gator Bowl at TIAA Bank Field. The Aggies of the Southeastern Conference match up with the NC State Wolfpack of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

The Aggies finished 19 in the nation under Fisher’s first year as head coach. The player to watch for Texas A&M in the TaxSlayer Gator Bowl is Running Back Trayveon Williams. The Junior rushed for 1,524 yards and led the team with 15 rushing scores.

The Wolfpack, coached by Dave Doeren, hold a 9-3 record. Wide Receiver Kelvin Harmon elected not to play in the game as he plans to enter the 2019 NFL Draft. Harmon is likely to be one of the top receivers to be picked early in the draft as he recorded 1,186 receiving yards and led the team with seven touchdowns. Quarterback Ryan Finley is expected to play in the game, Finley is one of the top Quarterbacks in the ACC as he threw for 3,789 passing yards and had a 67.9 completion percentage.

Both teams square off on New Year’s Eve at 7:15 p.m. on ESPN. Spinnaker Sports will be covering the game with live tweets from the press box and post game interviews on the field.
