UNF Track & Field racks up medals in Conference Championship meet

The Ospreys hosted the ASUN Track & Field Conference Championship and both the Men’s and Women’s team had impressive performances.

Senior Audrey Carpenter placed third in the opening day of the meet with a time of 11:03 in the 1300 meter Steeplechase.

On the same day, Junior Noah Perkins of the Men’s team finished second in the 10,000 meter event with a personal record time of 10:39, earning silver. In the same race, Freshman Nathan Jubran crossed the finish line at 30:56, earning bronze.

In the 3,000 meter Steeplechase, Senior Fynn Timm crossed the finish line at 9:19, earning bronze.

On day two of the meet, the 4×400 team of Juniors Jenn Brunson, Crystal Liebenberg, Jade Sullivan and Sophomore Sydney Steele won bronze with a new school record time of 3:43.24.

Liebenberg and Sullivan weren’t done for the day as they medaled in the 400 meter Hurdles event as Sullivan earned silver with a new personal record of 1:00 and Liebenberg followed by finishing third with a new personal record of 1:01.

Freshman Lydia van Dijk earned the last medal for the Ospreys with a time of 4:44 in the 1500 meter event, earning bronze.

Sophomore Jared Vazquez won the 1,500 meter event with a time of 3:55.

Perkins and Jubran placed in the top three in the 10K event as Perkins finished in second with a time of 14:39 and Jubran crossed the finish line at 14:57.

In the 400 meter event, Junior George Escobar earned bronze with a personal record of 47.99.

For the field events, Freshman Jaasiel Torres earned Gold and Senior Bobby Harris won the high jump at 2.08 meters (6-09.75).

Some members of the Men’s team will compete at the NCAA East Preliminary meet on May 23-25 at UNF’s Hodges Stadium.
