September 23, 2018
Anthony Stagnitta, who has been charged on two accounts of distributing child pornography on his phone through the instant-messaging app Kik, has been set for trial Jan. 7, 2019.
According to the Department of Justice, Stagnitta told officials, “he was a member of multiple group chats that discussed child pornography on this particular app, that he had sent videos containing child pornography to other app users via private messaging or posted them in the group chats, and that he had received approximately 150 files containing child pornography.”
Stagnitta was released May 25 under certain conditions. He must stay within the North and Middle Districts of Florida, refrain from possessing a firearm, submit to a psychiatric evaluation and mental health evaluation, undergo drug testing, participate in the electronic monitoring program, not possess or use any electronic device that can access the internet, not have any contact with minors, and cannot enter an area or location where minors frequently visit.
If Stagnitta breaks these conditions or does not appear in court, he will need to pay $50,000 as part of his unsecured appearance bond.
According to the United States District Court Middle District of Florida, the jury trial that was originally set for October has been rescheduled for Jan. 7, 2019 with a status conference set for Dec. 17, 2018.
